Seasonal Considerations for Installing Artificial Grass

Installing artificial grass in winter

The weather plays a significant role in the installation process. While artificial grass can be installed year-round, winter weather conditions do present some challenges – so homeowners be prepared if they decide to complete this project during the winter months!

Impact of Weather on Installation

Cold temperatures can affect the effectiveness of the adhesive that is used to secure the artificial grass to the base layer. The type of adhesive used for this may not cure properly in cold conditions, which could potentially lead to a less secure installation.

If the ground is frozen, that can make it difficult to prepare the area for installation. Imagine trying to level frozen ground! This may also interfere with the compaction of the base layer. Preparing the area and the base layer are crucial steps in installation. If they are not done well, the synthetic lawn will not end up looking its best.

And of course, severe weather conditions like a blizzard outside you probably will not be able to go out and work on installing your artificial lawn until it stops. And if you are hiring a contractor to install the turf, they may not be able to travel to your home because of winter weather like heavy snowfall. In freezing temperatures, there may be icy, unsafe conditions. Either way, you will have to wait until the snow melts to get back to installing your new synthetic grass.
