Over 8 million people in the United States identify as having some form of physical disability. For these people, simple things such as walking, climbing stairs, or bending over can be daunting, if not impossible, tasks to do every day.
To help persons with physical disabilities function as comfortably as possible, they have to make necessary adjustments to adapt to their physical limitations; this includes those within the disabilities community who enjoy gardening or spending time outdoors. Surfaces like gravel, bark and natural grass pose significant challenges for persons with physical disabilities and could be a discouraging factor when enjoying outdoor activities.
